Our business model gives us an unparalleled perspective across the entire supply chain that allows us to quickly recognise where our customers need our support. We take the time to get to know our clients, their businesses, and their fleets. Using both our 360-degree perspective on the industry and extensive local knowledge of the numerous global ports we operate in, we can offer tailored solutions for any challenge: from bunker trade to physical supply, to risk management.

Bunkering.
We are fast becoming one of the most well-regarded names within the maritime and bunkering industries.
From inception, we have sought to pursue a client-centric business model which understands our client’s needs and concerns and allows us to develop tailored, appropriate, and affordable solutions for them. Our team of experts is curated based on this business model, and we have built a team who have a breadth of experience across different industries and sectors, from physical suppliers, seafarers and vessel captains, bankers, and lawyers to the real old-fashioned bunker traders. We understand our clients, and they trust us with their bunkering needs.

Physical Supply.
Over the years, with the significant growth of our client base, in order to ensure we continue to provide a reliable and quality service, we have expanded our operations into physical supply, to allow us to service our clients directly.
Using both our 360-degree perspective on the industry and extensive local knowledge of the numerous global ports we operate in; we can offer tailored solutions for any physical supply challenge. Our fuel is always sourced from major ports and refineries, with consistency in quality being our key focus.

Risk Management.
We have a deep understanding of risk assessment and management and take a hands-on approach when it comes to supporting our clients.
IME was established by an ex-corporate banker, and during its growth and expansion, it has retained an in-depth understanding of the financial sector, curating a team of traders whose experience range from bunker trading to working within some of the world’s key financial hubs. Our deep-rooted background in both the commodities market and the world of banking gives us the unique ability to understand and take protective steps against market volatility. This is something we must do for ourselves as physical suppliers, and so we have a unique perspective and understanding that we share with our clients to help protect their business too.

December 2022
Hamed Fathi of IME looks at the issues that need to be considered when assessing credit risk in the bunker industry.
One of the most common elements of a bunker trading / supply business is reliance on large volumes of ‘low margin’ bunker deals, that are in turn financed by banks and financiers with a lower margin / interest credit facility, enabling the bunker trader to make enough profit overall to make the enterprise sound.
